Introducing Knuckles

What started alone in a crate at a park, has grown into a story of patience, persistence, and a bond that was built over time. 

Knuckles is a  reminder that sometimes the ones who take the longest to understand become the ones who change us the most.

HOW I FOUND MY HOME

I was just a tiny puppy from an accidental litter, being handed out for free at a park. 

My future person heard about me sitting alone, looking sad and out of place. I didn't even look like the other puppies. All of the others looked like Australian Shepherds.  

Something in her decided I mattered. She made sure I wouldn’t be overlooked and had somewhere to go.

A friend kept me safe until Kailey could come home.

That was the beginning of everything.

 

MY FOREVER HOME

I knew I was home in a moment most people might miss.

It wasn’t the car ride and it wasn’t the first step through the door.

It was the first time I fell asleep next to my little friend, Bodhi.

Something about that moment felt right. I was where I belonged.

 

 

LEARNING TO LIVE TOGETHER

I know I wasn’t easy in the beginning.

We didn’t just fall into place. We had to figure each other out. There were moments when I didn’t understand Kailey, and moments where she didn’t understand me. It took time. It took effort. It took lots of patience.

Slowly, we built a life together that works.

Because of me, Kailey grew into a more patient version of herself.

Because of Kailey, I learned how to build trust and love. 

Not all of us adjust right away. Not all of us come ready to trust, ready to listen, ready to fit neatly into the life you imagined. Some of us take longer. Some of us need more.

But when we’re given time, safety, consistency, and love, we become something incredible. 

 

 

OUR LIFE TOGETHER

Every morning, I know I’m supposed to be. While Kailey makes Bodhi’s lunch, I sit as perfectly as I can next to George (he's my doggie brother), and wait patiently. 

Treats are coming!

I may not have words, but I have my ways of telling my people how I feel.

I stand up on my back legs and stare, holding a gaze for as long as Kailey's holds mine. In that moment, it’s just us. 

That’s how I say I love you.

 

FINAL THOUGHTS

I had fears once. The kind that made the world feel scary. The kind that made me unsure of people when they came to the house.

Kailey showed me, over and over again that I was safe. Thanks to her, now I love everyone that comes to visit. 

Because of you, I’m not that lonely puppy in the crate.

Because of you I am safe. 

Because of you, I am loved.

Because of you, I belong. 

Because of you, I am rescued.
