Hi. It’s me, Cooper.

Before I found my people, I was figuring things out on my own. I was living on the streets until some kind humans from the Humane Society of Scott County scooped me up and gave me a safe place to land. I was about 8 months old, a pup with a big heart and no real plan.

The Humane Society called me “Jamie,”. I was fine with that, but I knew that wasn’t my real name. I was waiting for my people to figure it out.

Then one day, everything changed. Mike walked into the shelter. I didn’t hesitate. I jumped right into his lap and gave him the biggest kiss I could. That was it. Decision made. I chose him, and he chose me right back. Honestly, I sealed the deal with that kiss. I’m very good at those.

When I got home, Lisa and Mike looked at me and said, “He’s a Cooper.”

From the moment I walked through the door, I just knew I belonged. Hershey showed me the ropes and how to dog properly. I settled in like I’d been there forever.

Since I was still young, I didn’t carry any of the hard stuff with me. I just brought my joy, my energy, and my very enthusiastic tongue.
